SUMMARY
Strasseriopsis gen. nov. is described and based on S. tsugae (Kobayashi) Sutton & Kobayashi comb. nov. (≡ Phellostroma tsugae Kobayashi), the cause of a stem and twig blight of T suga sieboldii Carr. in Japan. The fungus produces 2-celled phialospores from within pycnidial cavities in stromata and is distinct from the type of Phellostroma H. & P. Syd. which, as Höhnel suggested, is probably an ascomycete.
