SUMMARY
Teliospore morphology, hosts and symptomatology suggest that Sphacelotheca ischaemicola is a synonym of S. tanglinensis, but possibly differing in infectivity. Two syndromes were observed affecting inflorescences of Ischaemum indicum and I. timorense, a severe form and a mild one, the former being more prevalent. Hyphae in host tissues and the systemic nature of the disease are shown.
