Hosts and Distribution Records of Mexican Smut Fungi

SUMMARY

Hosts and distribution records are given for 39 species of smut fungi from Mexico, including some rarely collected species and new host records. Five new species are described: Sphacelotheca tepicensis on Sorghastrum incompletum, Thecaphora pulcherrima on Baltimora recta, Tilletia aegopogonis on Aegopogon tenellus, Tilletia durangensis on Eragrostis mexicana, and Ustilago bahuichivoensis on Pennisetum pringlei.
