SUMMARY
A portion of coniferous wood approximately 25 cm long bearing a small sporophore of Ganoderma applanatum (Pers. ex Wallr.) Pat. was collected and brought into the laboratory. In a few weeks it formed a new hymenial layer and began discharging basidiospores. Spore discharge studies were done in an I SCO Environmental Chamber under controlled conditions with Kramer-Collins Spore Samplers. The specimen remained in a sporulating condition for about 10 weeks. Under constant temp (21 C), relative humidity (90%) and either alternating 12 hr light—12 hr dark, or continuous light, spore discharge was cyclic with maxima usually occurring at 9–10 hr intervals.
