SUMMARY
The developmental stages of Septosperma rhizophidii, as it occurs on Rhizophydium macrosporum, are described and illustrated. Resting spore germination was not observed. Details of planont cleavage and discharge are recorded for the first time. The genus Septosperma is validated and redescribed.
A taxonomic account of the genus Septosperma including descriptions of the recognized species and an unnamed form is given. Morphological differences between the two species are discussed briefly.
