Notes on Some Hypogeous Fungi from Mexico

SUMMARY

Among 18 species of hypogeous fungi collected in Mexico, Genea asperula, Melanogaster umbrinigleba, and Rhizopogon michoacanicus are described as new species. Gautieria chilensis and G. mexicana are re- described from study of the types. Nearly all the other species represent first records for Mexico: Phycomycetes, Endogone fulva; Ascomycetes, Elaphomyces granulatus, E. reticulatus, Geopora cooperi f. cooperi and Tuber murinum; Basidiomycetes, Hydnangium carneum, Hymenogaster farinaceus, Hysterangium separabile, Leucogaster magnatus, Melanogaster ambiguus var. ambiguus, Rhizopogon sp., Rhizopogon ochraceorubens, and R. subbadius. One specimen of R. ochraceorubens was infected by Sepedonium chrysospermum.
