Helminthosporium Allii as Type of a New Genus

SUMMARY

A new genus of Hyphomycetes, Embellisia Simmons, is typified by E. allii (Campanile) Simmons (syn. Helminthosporium allii Campanile), a dematiaceous invader of Allium sativum bulb scales. A second species, E. chlamydospora (Hoes et al.) Simmons (syn. Pseudostemphylium chlamydosporum Hoes et al.), is known as isolates from soil and from a variety of plant parts, notably of underground parts of wheat.
