Xenomeris Abietis Associated with Dieback of Douglas Fir and Western Hemlock

SUMMARY

Xenomcris abietis Barr, which occurs on Abies grandis in Idaho, is associated with dieback in Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga mensiesii) and western hemlock (Tsuga heterophylla) in the south coastal region of British Columbia, Canada. In culture, the fungus produces an Aureo- basidium (Pullularla)-like conidial state.
