Pages 1022-1029 | Accepted 10 Jan 1974, Published online: 12 Sep 2018

SUMMARY

The infrastructure of a strain of Epicoccum nigrum was studied. The hyphal cell contents included typical nuclei, mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, myelin bodies, lomasomes, and Woronin bodies. The hyphal strands are surrounded by a mucilaginous sheath. The conidia have an inner cell wall and a crusty outer wall. The wall of the germ tube is continuous with the inner cell wall of the spore. The spores are multicellular, each cell having the characteristic organelles observed in other Deuteromycetes and Ascomycetes.
