SUMMARY
Aphanomycopsis sexualis parasitic in eggs of various midges is illustrated and described. The sporangium of this species consists of a highly branched system of hyphal tubes which fills the egg. The chorion is ruptured by thick-walled lobes which arise from the sporangium, extend distally, and become elongated discharge tubes. On emerging from the discharge tubes nonmotile primary zoospores give rise to spiny-walled cysts. Oospores are formed following contact between gametangia.
