Fischerula, hitherto known only from F. macrospora, the Italian type species, is expanded to include a new species, F, subcaulis, from Oregon and Washington. Fischerula has been regarded as a member of the Tuberaceae, but its affinities are closer to the genus Hydnotrya than to the genus Tuber.
