Pseudocochliobolus Australiensis, the Ascigerous State of Bipolaris Australiensis

Pages 88-96 | Accepted 06 Jun 1980, Published online: 12 Sep 2018

SUMMARY

Two species formerly included in the genus Drechslern, D. hawaiiensis and D. australiensis, are transferred to Bipolaris. Both species have bipolar conidium germination and produced the ascigerous state in Sachs agar medium with rice straw. They are disposed in Pseudocochliobolus on the basis of their morphology. Pseudocochliobolus australiensis is described as a new species for the ascigerous state of B. australiensis. Both species are heterothallic and the two mating types are governed by the same single-gene alleles.
