SUMMARY
A number of auxotropic mutants of Allomyces macrogynus strain Burma 3–35 (35°C) have been isolated. The mutants were selected for either by the starvation-selection-rescue technique or by a filtration technique. The majority of auxotrophic mutants which have been isolated prove to be leaky or unstable and revert to prototrophy. Four mutants were isolated which did not revert to prototrophy and which were not leaky (2 strains with a growth requirement for lysine, 1 for asparagine, and 1 whose growth requirement can be satisfied by one of a number of amino acids).
