SUMMARY
Ascocarp morphology and terminal hair ornamentation was examined by scanning electron microscopy in five theromphilic Chaetomium species: viz., C. thermophile, C. gracile, C. erraticum, C. rectopilium and C. cellulolyticum. Individual species could be identified and separated on the basis of their ascocarp and ascospore morphology. However, terminal hair ornamentation was found to be of little use in the separation of species.
