ABSTRACT

The organism described as the fungus Veralucia brasiliensis Reynolds & Dunn is recognized as the alga Cephaleuros parasiticus Karsten. The similarity of fungal and algal structures is discussed. Other misidentifications of Cephaleuros as fungoid are reviewed.
