ABSTRACT
Biological, taxonomic, and nomenclatural aspects of Xylaria cubensis, X. allantoidea, and X. poitei are discussed, with particular reference to their occurrence and activities in continental United States. A new hyphomycetous genus, Xylocoremium, is erected to accommodate separate and distinct coremial anamorphs of Xylaria species. The type species is Xylocoremium flabelliforme comb. nov., the anamorph of X. cubensis.
