Numerical Taxonomic Analyses on Laccaria (Agaricales)

ABSTRACT

Numerical taxonomic analyses (UPGMA and PCOR) of data obtained through detailed examinations of basidiocarps and somatic cultures were conducted to develop an objective classification scheme for Lacearia in North America. Analyses were also undertaken to investigate the effect which different character sets had on the classification scheme. Classification schemes based on incomplete data sets differed significantly from the scheme obtained when all of the available data were utilized. A complete circumscription of Lacearia species, therefore, required data on cultural features as well as basidiocarp characters.
