ABSTRACT
Aquadiscula appendiculata was isolated from leaves of Acer rubrum L. submerged in an Illinois freshwater swamp. This species is characterized by 1- to 2-celled, hyaline ascospores with a mucilaginous appendage at one end. Apothecia develop in water and are composed of relatively undifferentiated tissues.
