Pages 810-824 | Accepted 08 Feb 1985, Published online: 12 Sep 2018

ABSTRACT

Characteristics are discussed which can be used to distinguish Aspergillus and Penicillium from each other, and from the related genera Raperia, Paecilomyces, Geosmithia, Nomuraea, Elodia, and Merimbla. Torulomyces, recently placed in synonymy with Penicillium, is considered to be distinct. Four new species, Paecilomyces pascua, Geosmithia virida, Penicillium sabulosum and Penicillium oblatum, which appear to lie along the interfaces of these three genera, are described.
