Type Studies in Tylopilus. III. Taxa Described by Walter H. Snell, Esther a. Dick, and Co-Workers

Pages 22-31 | Accepted 28 Apr 1985, Published online: 12 Sep 2018

ABSTRACT

Bolete species originally described by Snell, Dick, and co-workers and assigned to or suspected of having affinities with Tylopilus are redescribed: Boletus felleus forma albiceps, B. felleus forma rubrobrunneus, B. peralbidus, B. plumbeoviolaceus, B. pseudodecorus, B. subdecorus, T. subunicolor, and T. ferrugineus subsp. vinaceogriseus. Most of these specimens represent taxa that have been placed into Tylopilus. Others possessed characters which would justify their inclusion in Tylopilus. Boletus felleus forma albiceps and B. felleus forma rubrobrunneus are validated.
