ABSTRACT
Elatinic acid, the B-ring monomethyl ester of squamatic acid, and methyl barbatate are new secondary products in the lichen genus Haematomma. Although the chemistry of the monotypic Haematom-mataceae is complex and poorly known, these are the first compounds recognized as unique to the family. Elatinic acid is reported from three species, helping to clarify the taxonomy of two common ones, and methyl barbatate is reported from one species.
