ABSTRACT
Isolates from cucumber in Iran, Japan, Taiwan and the mainland of China were compared under similar cultural conditions. Although previously identified as Phytophthora drechsleri, P. melonis or P. sinensis, they were all similar in cultural, morphological and physiological characteristics. It is suggested that P. melonis and P. sinensis should be treated as synonyms of P. drechsleri, which has nomenclatural priority.
