ABSTRACT

The 174 polyporoid and corticioid species of fungi described by C. Spegazzini were reevaluated. The type specimens for 149 names were located in the Instituto de Botánica Carlos Spegazzini (La Plata, Argentina). Of these, 21 are accepted as valid, 104 are synonyms, 15 types are sterile and indeterminable, 5 are not Basidiomycetes, 2 are tremellaceous fungi of uncertain position, 1 is allied to Stereum Pers. and 1 is allied to Phlebia Fr. Seven new combinations are proposed: Flaviporus subhydrophilus, Grammothelopsis puiggarii, Hypochniciellum iaganicum, Phanerochaete incrustans, Phellinus apiahynus, Phlebia argentina and Trametes versicolor f. antarctica.
