The Genus Serenomyces on Palms

, &
Pages 47-51 | Accepted 25 Jul 1988, Published online: 29 Aug 2018

ABSTRACT

The concept of Serenomyces is revised and expanded. A key to the species now known, all on Palmae, is presented. A new species, S. californica, that develops on rachises of California fan palm is recognized. The genus is more aptly placed in the Phyllachorales than in the Ceratostomataceae because of the habit of the subepidermal ascomata in stromatic tissues and the centrum of thin-walled asci among delicate paraphyses.
