Pages 139-146 | Accepted 20 Sep 1988, Published online: 29 Aug 2018

ABSTRACT

Aniptodera chesapeakensis, a species common in brackish water and seawater, is reported and illustrated from freshwater habitats. Three new species of Aniptodera, A. limnetica, A. fusiformis, and A. margarition, from wood submerged in freshwater, are described and illustrated. Species are characterized by hyaline, membranous ascomata, thin-walled, deliquescent asci with an apical pore and sub-apical retraction of cytoplasm, and thick-walled, two-celled ascospores.
