Notes on Collybia III. Three Neotropical Species of Subg. Rhodocollybia

Pages 870-875 | Accepted 04 Jun 1989, Published online: 29 Aug 2018

ABSTRACT

Collybia turpis from Colombia and Costa Rica, and C. popayanica from Colombia, are newly described from neotropical Quercus forests, and C. sleumeri (type of sect. Cystidiatae) is redescribed from the Ecuadorian páramo. All three species possess dextrinoid, cyanophilous, smooth, pink-tinted basidiospores. These features are indicative of subg. Rhodocollybia. Rufescent flesh, resulting from an immediate oxidation, is a diagnostic attribute of C. turpis, and was previously unknown for the genus. The conic, pinkish pileus and translucent stipe are distinctive for C. popayanica. Collybia sleumeri is restricted to the high elevation páramo.
