ABSTRACT

Ectomycorrhizae of Thelephora terrestris on Picea abies are described and the results are compared to those in the literature. The ectomycorrhizae are well-characterized by a plectenchymatous mantle with netted hyphae below the mantle surface, by cystidia with abruptly thick walls with a distal clamp and often frequent simple septa. Rhizomorphs are slightly differentiated. Naturally grown ectomycorrhizae isolated from soil are compared with synthesized ones.
