Abstract

Morphological and ultrastructural studies were conducted to describe germ tube formation in Gigaspora albida. A unique method of germination, involving the formation of a special chamber for germ tube initiation, was found. This appears to be an intermediate between that in Gigaspora margarita and Scutellospora species.
