Abstract

The teleomorph of Areolospora bosensis is redescribed and illustrated using both light and scanning electron microscopy. The ascospores possess a diagnostic small, hyaline area near each apex. Phaeosporis melasperma is considered to be a separate taxon. Areolospora bosensis is primarily pantropical in distribution and optimum growth occurs at about 35 C.
