Abstract

The morphology of germ tubes produced on water by conidia of 50 different powdery mildew species was investigated. Based on germ tube morphology mildew species could be broadly classified into four different groups. Germ tube morphology on water also enabled some powdery mildew fungi to be distinguished from others.
