Abstract
Discoxylaria is shown to be a distinctive genus of family Xylariaceae (Ascomycetes, Pyrenomycetes, Sphaeriales). Its Hypocreodendron anamorph is hyphomycetous rather than coelomycetous as originally reported. Conidia are produced holoblastically; the conidiogenous locus proliferates by a variation of the percurrent mode.
