Abstract

Arbuscular mycorrhizae were absent in 75 individuals of Deschampsia antarctica (Antarctic hairgrass) collected from the Palmer Station area, Antarctica, and the accompanying soil sampled had no mycorrhizal infectivity. However, D. antarctica was capable of forming typical arbuscular mycorrhizae infections with Glomus intraradices and Glomus etunicatum in the greenhouse.
