Abstract
Pulsed field gel electrophoresis was used to separate chromosomal-size DNAs of the obligate plant parasites, Plasmodiophora brassicae and Spongospora subterranea, isolated from within infected host tissues. The electrophoretic karyotype for P. brassicae was n = 6, with chromosomes ranging from 680 kb to 1750 kb; that for S. subterranea n = 5, with chromosomes ranging from 1030 kb to 2200 kb.
