Abstract
The average zinc content of 363 mushroom samples collected form various locations in Hungary over a three-year period was 118.7 mg/kg dry wt. In 17 samples the zinc content was greater than 200 mg/kg dry wt. The greatest Zn content i.e. “accumulation” occurred in Russula atropurpurea samples (763–1067 mg/kg dry wt.). The mode of accumulation is yet unknown.
