Pages 639-642 | Accepted 26 Feb 1997, Published online: 28 Aug 2018

Abstract

A new monotypic genus of Harpellales (Trichomycetes) belonging to the Legeriomycetaceae, is described: Lancisporomyces. The single species, L. vernalis, grows in the hindgut of Nemouridae stonefly nymphs (Plecoptera). The new genus is characterized by having lance-shaped zygospores, the absence of a well defined zygosporophore and the elongate-ovoid shape of trichospores that bear two long appendages. Characteristics similar to other genera are compared and discussed.
