Freshwater Ascomycetes: Phaeosphaeria barriae sp. nov. from lakes in Wisconsin

Abstract

Phaeosphaeria barriae, a new species, is described and illustrated. It was found on submerged dead stems of aquatic macrophytes collected from three north temperate lakes in Wisconsin. The ascospores are 3-septate, hyaline, and possess bipolar appendages and a gelatinous sheath.
