Summary
The fungi occurring in two soils under forest and five soils under pasture were examined in various seasons employing the screened immersion plate method.
Greater numbers of mycelia were isolated from soils under pasture than from the same soils under forest, and from well drained soils under pasture compared with less well drained soils under pasture.
Season and local weather conditions appeared to influence fungal growth. In soils under forest Cylindrocarpon radicicola was predominant and Fusaria were absent, whereas in soils under pasture Fusaria were predominant, particularly F. oxysporum.
The soil fungal patterns for most of the pasture soils were very similar, which suggests the development of a similar environment for fungi in these soils.
