The growth rates of Costelytra zealandica larvae feeding on the roots of grasses grown in pots and boxes were studied over three seasons. A total of 23 species of grasses was tested. Larval growth rates were least in larvae feeding on Arrhenatherum elatius and on one cultivar of Poa pratensis.
