Abstract
A field trial was undertaken to determine the effects of virus and mycoplasma diseases commonly occurring in New Zealand apple trees on 9 of the Aotea series apple rootstocks top-worked by budding with the cultivar Royal Gala. Four of the Aotea rootstock/Royal Gala combinations were severely affected by virus and mycoplasma infection, 2 less severely, and 3 showed little difference between inoculated and healthy trees.
