Abstract

On Wilson's Lead Road (otherwise Addison's Road) south of Westport, on 27 February 1975, we examined wetland sites that we had studied in 1955. There we noticed beside the road (NZMS 1 S31:053636) a group of shallow pools, not previously investigated, which had been scooped out by engineering activities from the cemented gravels characteristic of the area. While going to collect specimens of Eleocharis sphacelata R.Br, in one of these pools N. T. M. found an abundance of plants of the floating bladderwort Utricularia protrusa Hook.f. (Fig. 1).
