Abstract
Ethanol was detected in the rhizospheres, just behind the root tips, of radicles of Lupinus angustifolius (cv. ‘New Zealand Blue’) subjected to waterlogging lor 36 hr. Concentrations were commonly in the range 1–5 mM, values which have been shown to exert a positively chemotactic influence on zoospores of Phytophthora cinnamomi.
