Abstract
Accounts of the 13 major public herbaria in New Zealand are presented, including information on the scope oftheir holdings, number of specimens of each plant group, important included collections and collectors, and current staff and research. Over 1 000 000 plant specimens are now held in New Zealand herbaria.
