Kermadec ngaio (Myoporum, Myoporaceae)

Abstract

Plants of Myoporum in the Kermadec Islands have been previously assigned to M. laetum of New Zealand or, more recently, to M. obscurum of Norfolk I. They are here described as a new species, M. kermadecense, endemic to the Kermadec Islands but closely related to M. laetum and M. obscurum, and with many similarities also to species in tropical S.E. Polynesia, Australia, and New Caledonia.
