Abstract
Extracts of one hundred and forty seven New Zealand native plants have been assayed for inhibitory activity against thirteen enzymes of clinical significance. Forty seven percent of the extracts exhibited inhibitory effects against at least one enzyme. The majority of these inhibitory activities were removed by polyvinylpolypyrrolidone (PVPP) suggesting that many of these effects were caused by water soluble polyphenolic/tannin constituents of the extracts
