Three new species of Moellerodiscus (Helotiales, Rutstroemiaceae) from New Zealand

Abstract

Three leaf‐inhabiting discomycetes common in New Zealand forests are described as new species in the genus Moellerodiscus. Two of the species occur on fallen leaves of CoprosmaM. coprosmae is found throughout the country, most commonly on C. robusta; M. microcoprosmae is found from Greymouth northward, only on C. grand‐ifolia. The third species, M. griseliniae, is found on fallen leaves of Griselinia littoralis from Wellington southward. Rutstroemia macrospora (= Ciboria peckiana) is reported from New Zealand for the first time. A short discussion is provided on generic concepts amongst Sclerotiniaceae and Rutstroemiaceae.
