SUMMARY
This paper attempts to meet the need for an organized and fairly comprehensive presentation of the philosophy and methodology of mother guidance. In addition to the information presented, successful mother guidance demands a thorough knowledge of child development, knowledge of the function and structure of a neurosis and an appreciation of the complexities of analytically oriented psychotherapy. Not only is mother guidance an effective preventive technique for the troubled child, but the mother learns a great deal which assists her in the upbringing of all her children.
