Work and organizational psychology as a field for research and practice. International and Scandinavian perspectives

Pages 161-177 | Published online: 27 Feb 2017

Work- and organizational psychology is a growing area of research as well as practice. In spite of the various fields and divergent specialities included, there is sometimes justified to regard the work and organisational psychology as a united dicipline. In this article the author has tried such an approach in discussing dominant values, problems in cross-scientific contexts, cultural influences on theory development, ideologies behind improvement strategies of work organization and work environment.

The article is based on a lecture given to an audience of researchers, teachers, practitionners and students participating in the August-conference 1996 arranged by the Department of Psychology, Aarhus University, Denmark.
