Pages 129-133 | Published online: 15 Apr 2008

Abstract

Developments in oceanography in Norway started 100 years ago and are due to the work of a few outstanding scientists, mainly H. Mohn, F. Nansen, B. Helland-Hanscn, and V. Bjerkncs. The pioneers obtained world-wide recognition and laid foundations for new schools. The important developments which took place in oceanography from the last century up to the present time are reviewed.
