Hallstein Myklebost — an appreciation

Abstract

After a long and distinguished career in Norwe–gian geography Professor Hallstein Myklebost retired from the Chair of Human Geography at the University of Oslo in June 1993. A personal appreciation by his colleague Hans Solerod was published in this journal in 1993 (pp. 247—250).The current issue of the journal begins here with a professional assessment of Myklebost's work and is followed by a select bibliography. The professor emeritus then presents an agenda for his recent research and teaching, and in four articles colleagues show how themes introduced by Myklebost to Nonvegian geography have been followed up by others. The bibliography includes publications in English and German as well as in Norwegian on topics representative of his work. References to the bibliography are given in parentheses.
