Abstract
Professor Johan Ludvig Sollid at the Department of Physical Geography, University of Oslo, and Dr Geir-Harald Strand at the Norwegian Institute of Land Inventory (Norsk institutt for jordog skogkartlegging - NIJOS), in collaboration with the editor of the Norwegian Journal of Geography Tormod Klemsdal, took the initiative in September 1993 to launch a special issue of the Journal with the scope ‘Applications in Geographical Information Technology (GIT)’. Dr Bernd Etzelmüller, Department of Physical Geography, University of Oslo, and Dr Kjell Kjenstad, Sysdeco GIs A/S, Kongsberg, were chosen as editors for the special issue.
